Primary Lesson Helps Lds Jesus Will Come Again

Purpose

To acquaint the children with the signs of the Savior's 2nd coming, and to encourage them to prepare themselves to meet him.

Preparation

1. Prayerfully study Joseph Smith—Matthew 1:1–4, 21–55; Acts ane:9–11; and Doctrine and Covenants 29:eleven; 38:thirty; 101:24–25; 133:46–48. So report the lesson and decide how yous want to teach the children the scripture account. (See "Preparing Your Lessons," p. half-dozen, and "Instruction from the Scriptures," p. vii.)

2. Additional reading: Joseph Smith—Matthew i:5–20 and Doctrine and Covenants 45:xvi–75, 88:87–101.

3. Select the give-and-take questions and enrichment activities that will involve the children and all-time help them achieve the purpose of the lesson.

4. Materials needed:

   1. A Pearl of Nifty Toll for each child.

   2. Several copies of the Bible and Doctrine and Covenants.

   3. Four fig leaves (see pattern below) cut out of colored newspaper, or drawn on the chalkboard, with one of the post-obit words or phrases printed on each foliage: false Christs, Israel gathered, desolations, heavenly wonders.

   4. An outline of the branches of a fig tree drawn on paper or the chalkboard.

   5. Tape or other adhesive.

   6. Pictures 7-three, The Birth of Jesus (Gospel Fine art Film Kit 200; 62116); vii-25, The Second Coming (62562); vii-43, The Ascension of Jesus (Gospel Art Moving-picture show Kit 236; 62497); and a picture of the current prophet.

Suggested Lesson Development

Invite a child to requite the opening prayer.

Attention Activity

Show the pictures The Nascence of Jesus and The 2d Coming.

You may use i or more of the following activities any time during the lesson or as a review, summary, or challenge.

1. Brand a copy of the following statements for each child. Distribute the statements and give pencils to the class members. Take them match the beginning of the statement with the end of the statement by cartoon a line from the phrase in the first column to the correct catastrophe in the second cavalcade.
